About One Line

Built first for real-life memorization.

I created One Line for myself first: a small, focused way to return to long passage memorization in a season where attention, time, and energy feel different than they did years ago.

Why I Made It

In university, I memorized a number of longer passages. But I had not seriously practiced that kind of memorization for more than 15 years. When I wanted to begin again, I found that it was harder than it used to be.

After reading Ken Berding's book on Bible memory, I was encouraged to approach memorization with renewed patience and better habits. I decided to build an app that would help me work on Bible memorization in this new stage of life, incorporating some of the methodology he shares: repeated reading, listening, recitation, and progressive recall.

Right now, I am working on memorizing Romans 6-8. One Line grew out of that practical need: a tool to keep the whole passage in view while helping me practice the next line faithfully.

Ken Berding's book on Bible memory was part of what prompted the project. Paid link.
